10 hurt in London bus crash

Officials examine the scene of an accident where a bus ploughed into a shop on a busy street in southwest London yesterday, leaving 10 people injured. Two others were rescued when they were trapped inside by the debris. There was blood inside the bus, witnesses said. Passenger Amy Mullineux, a nurse, said the driver told her that he lost consciousness. “He said he blacked out before the bus hit the shop,” the 40-year-old said. “He doesn’t remember hitting anything.” Another passenger, Andrew Matthews, 34, said around a dozen people were on the bus when it began to drift off the road. “As soon as the bus came to a stop there was yelling, screaming,” he said. The accident happened on Lavender Hill, best known for the 1951 movie “The Lavender Hill Mob.” — AFP
